ambulance chaser
A popular name for one who solicits negligence cases for an attorney for a fee or in consideration of a percentage of the recovery.
Also, a term descriptive of the practice of some attorneys, on hearing of a personal injury which may have been caused by the negligence or wrongful act of another, or at once seeking out the injured person with a view to securing authority to bring action on account of the injury. Laymen's acquainting themselves with occurrence of accidents and approaching injured persons or their representatives with a view toward soliciting employment for an attorney in the litigation arising from the accident.
